Western Australia’s wine grape growing and winemaking workplaces should be aware that WorkSafe is conducting an inspection program to look at safety issues in the industry.

Apparently the program of inspections will continue until the end of 2019 in both the metropolitan and regional areas of WA.  Inspectors will be looking at the safety issues involved in both the farming of wine grapes and the manufacturing of wine, including the areas of manual tasks, electricity, slips, trips and falls, mobile plant and vehicle movement as well as the use of hazardous substances.   While the primary focus in on educating the industry, enforcement action will be taken if breaches are found.

Members and clients in the industry are advised that WorkSafe inspections will take place with the aid of a checklist which is available by contacting WorkSafe on 1300 307 877.
